Bowling: Blue and Gold Classic - Poirier Bowls 300![]() South Bend, Indiana (1/23-1/24) - The Martin Methodist bowling teams made the 10 hour trip to South Bend, Indiana this last weekend to bowl in the “Blue and Gold Classic”. The girls struggled but their focus continues to be on making sectionals. The girls need to make the top 64 and are currently sitting in 34th. Even though the girls haven’t found their stride yet, there are still two tournaments left in their regular season.
The guys have become a “new team” as two starters are out for the rest of the season. Although the team lost two starters, two new additions were brought in. Jonathon Rodriguez and Garrett Flatt joined the team this semester and appear to have some potential. Both traveled and had the chance to gain some valuable experience. The new guys were not the only reason for excitement this past weekend. On Saturday, in the final game of qualifying, Michael Poirier bowled the first 300 game for the bowling program! He finished 11th overall averaging 220 for 5 games. The team qualified 15th out of 66 teams but struggled on Sunday. The guys finished 26th but similar to the girls, the guys are 32nd and focused on catching the stride in time for sectionals. Sectionals will take place on March 13th and 14th, destination is to be decided.
