MMC Bowlers Compete in Dayton, Ohio
DAYTON, Ohio (11/14-11/15) - The Martin Methodist bowling teams, two guys’ team and one girl team, visited Poleking Woodman Lanes this week in Dayton, Ohio. Both the girls and the guys came into this week looking for results to match the potential. After Day 1, the girls found themselves sitting in the 6th position. The girls were led by Cindy Buckner whose average was a 186, Jamarva Norman whose average was a 179 and Emily Bowers whose average was a 176. The guys’ first team was in the 7th position after Saturday which consisted of Michael Poirier whose average was a 202, Riley Buchholz whose average was a 198, and Andrew Cranfield whose average was a 194. The guys’ second team struggled as they finished in the 25th position on Saturday which was led by Michael Jeter who averaged a 185.
Day 2 was an important day as all three teams were going to attempt to make a run towards the top four spots. If any of the teams made the top four, the winner would be decided in a step ladder format. The girls gave themselves a chance, but came up short finishing in the 7th position for the weekend. The guys’ first team looked as if they were going to pull it off. They were in the 4th position halfway through Sunday, but fell one spot to finish 5th for the weekend. Perhaps, the best story on Sunday was the guys’ second team, who pulled together after a bad first day and moved up the leader board ten positions to finish in the 15th spot.
Even though all of the teams struggled, overall the weekend was very positive. All three teams will learn from their mistakes and achievements and try to apply both of these to the next competition as they travel to Louisville, Kentucky next weekend.
