Tennis: RedHawks fall in First Conference MatchMCKENZIE, Tenn. (3/19) – Both of the Martin Methodist College Tennis teams traveled to McKenzie, Tennessee for their first TranSouth Conference matches of the 2009 season. The Men’s team fell just short being defeated 5-4. The Women’s team was defeated 8-1.
After four matches were rained out last week the teams were anxious to get back on the court. In men’s doubles Thiago Dualiby and Juan Suarez won their match for the RedHawks, defeateing Luke Newbold and Bill Robertson 8-4. In men’s singles Melvin Prada, Thiago Dualiby and Juan Suarez all won their respective matches. Prada defeated Andres Mejia 5-7, 6-4, 1-0. Dualiby defeated Luke Newbold 4-6, 6-0, 1-0. Suarez defeated Bill Roberston 6-1, 6-2. The Men’s team moves to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the TranSouth.
On the women’s side Allison Winters won her singles match defeating Margot Creaseman 6-1, 6-3. The Women’s Team is now 2-4 over and 0-1 in the TranSouth.
Both the Men and Women’s Teams will be playing at home on Wednesday March 25th as they host Cumberland University in another TranSouth Conference match.
