Girls Take Spot Light in Bearcat Open   printer  

Martin Methodist had three girls place in the top 20 of  the Hoinke Bearcat Open last weekend in Cincinatti, Ohio. Sophomore Hayley Beavis won the tournament on the girls side. Hayley averaged the field by nearly 25 pins a game in 9 games of qualifying with an average of 243.  Sophmores LeAudra Byrd and Cindy Buckner finished in 19th and 20th place respectively.  The girls led the tournament after 9 games by over 200 pins. The field was cut to 8 teams and Martin Methodist fell to Pikeville in the first round of brackets resulting in heartbreaking a fifth place finish.
Freshman Brian Huther led the Martin Methodist Men's team this week with a 14th place finish. Norm Titus said “it seems that the women have stolen the spot light from the men this week, we will see about South Bend.” 

Both teams will be playing in the Blue and Gold Classic on January 26th and 27th at Chippewa Bowl in South Bend, Indiana.
